International requirements
As manufacturer and suppler Van Veelen Verpakkingen complies with the international ISPM no. 15 standard. All our timber and wooden packaging is provided with a unique registration number as part of an international identification mark. This mark guarantees that the packaging and the wood supplied by us meet this standard.
The ISPM no.15 standard has been drawn up to prevent harmful organisms being spread internationally via wood and wooden packaging. It is an international standard drawn up by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC), part of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).
More and more countries are making the ISPM no. 15 standard compulsory for the import of wooden packaging, which means that packaging without the international mark is returned or has to undergo costly treatment locally. In order to avoid these problems Van Veelen Verpakkingen keeps a close eye on which countries stipulate the ISPM no.15 standard.
